Delving the depths of the world for moments that would otherwise go unnoticed

Welcome to the Deep End

For years I’ve quietly captured moments where I found myself in awe of the world around me then squireled them away on old hard drives and cell phones never to see they light of day again. While searching for something entirely unrelated, my wife found one of my hidden caches and asked why I never looked at them any more. With no good answer for her, we sat down and relived several years worth of sunsets, afternoon walks, and Sunday brunches.

This blog is not meant to be anything more than a place to tell stories and bask in my sense of wonder at a world infinatly more vast and complex I thought imaginable; from the vastly huge to the incomprehensably small, from the simplest grains of sand to complex phractal paterns of coral, our world holds so many secrets.

All the work and writing you’ll see here are my own work or will be properly cited to give credit where credit is due. All the images here are minimally processed to accentuate the natural beauty caught in my shots. I work mostly with natural light, except in certain circumstances (such as underwater) where I have to bring a light source with me. While I appreciate AI as a tool in the tool box of many creatives, I use is sparingly and only when I don’t have any other tool in my own tool box to do the job.

In a related vein, any prose or poetry found in this project are also my original works (unless otherwise sited). Everything I produce is written and revised entirely without the use of AI. Again, not to hate on anyone who uses AI tools in their workflow, but I believe that my art comes from inside of me, and seek to put as much of myself into my work as possible. My art will fail or – hopefully – succeed by my own hand.

In a world filled with so much noise and disregard for the individual, I would love to connect with you. I invite genuine, honest feedback about my work either directly in the comments section of any post or via direct contact. Please share how my work makes you feel, what you think of the composition, or anything else my work brings to mind. I genuinely want to hear from you.

This project is meant to dive deeper and encompass a wider breadth than any social media post can capture. While I post some of my content on social media, the real meat-and-potatoes can be found here. My work is not intended to be consumed in a few seconds, then quickly forgotten. I invite you to let it marinate.

I hope the things I post here bring you a bit of the wonder I felt when I first saw them. If you’ve made it this far following my rambling tale of how this website came together, thank you. I hope you keep coming back.
